Collecting model trains and make it a hobby will make any hobbyist enhance his technical and artistic flair to create an intricate structure of miniaturized and vibrant enjoyment.

Locomotives are the most important pieces for model trains.  There are two types of locomotives to pick from and these are steam and diesel, based on the real actual train types.  

The features from the real, life-sized steam locomotives can furthermore be seen and heard from model steam locos such as chimney-steam and whistle noise.  The only catch is, model steam locos are more expensive than diesel. 

Diesel locomotives are made to run more silent than steam locos and regularly come in 4-axle or 6-axle.  The track layout will influence the total of axles you should get since a track’s curves and turns will be a factor in its process.  The smaller the radius of the track’s curvature, say 18 inches, a 4-axle will be more appropriate while a radius of 22 inches is the minimum for a 6-axle.

Last but not least is the electrical wiring of the model trainThe electrical configuration of a model railway is the last focal piece for this form of hobby.  Whether digital or analog , a power pack will be important as well as the configuration of the wires.  

Analog wiring is more challenging than a digital setup since you you’ll be compelled to do some tinkering of the track’s wiring.  This involves wiring parts of track’s to running the train’s speed, stride, movement and route. 

An easier control option is by going digital. A digital setup requires a Digital Command Control panel to operate your model trains movements, speed and route.  For individuals who does not have the technical skill in electric wiring, going digital will be your best option.
