You may have heard stories out there of people who’ve lost dozens of pounds by simply switching going on a low calorie diet or low calorie meals. The idea is that these are small habits that add up to big changes and effects over time. Generally, you’ll make loss quicker and easier by increasing your metabolism and burining more calories during the day. The following are just a few tips to help get you started.
1) Get moving – If your a sedentary person, you’ll burn roughly one-third less calories per day. By just taking every opportunity to move you can make quite a huge difference to the amount of calories you can burn in a day. The trick to to keep moving as small movements will add up throughout the day. One idea is to write the word “move” on post-it notes and then put-them in places that you’ll notice when you’re sitting still. Then, take every opportunity to move, when you can.
2) Eat small snacks throughout the day – There is evidence that suggests that eating small meals and snacks about every 2-4 hours will increase your metabolism burning faster than larger and less frequent meals.
3) Fat is good – It sounds ironic and counterintuitive that we need fat in order to lose fat but its true. Our bodies need fat in order to function properly. The best fats to get are the ‘heathy’ fats from foods like flaxseed oil, hempseed, oilive oil, avocados, tuna and nuts.
4) Drink cold water – There’s evidence that drinking cold water requires more calories to process than hot water because you body needs to raise the temperature of the water you drink to the bodys’ normal level.
5) Spice up your life – believe it or not, spices such as cinnamon may actually help to speed up metabolism as well as keep your blood sugar levels checked. Don’t liek cinnamon? Try cayenne, crushed red pepper or wasabi.
