The idea of the first ever International Auto Locksmiths Convention was formed, in a group discussion about the future for auto locksmiths with the Locksmiths Manchester Company in attendance – firstly in the UK and then worldwide.  The question as to whether we needed a convention was raised as we discussed the fact that different vehicle manufacturers  are now collaborating more and more on new worldwide vehicles and systems.  We agreed that if auto locksmiths are not ready or willing to change now – or willing to get together and share vehicle information – they could end up working twice as hard and still not be able to get all the information they need to complete their work successfully
 
We first discussed the UK and then reasoned that there must be auto locksmiths in other countries around the world in exactly the same situation as us.   So what about taking a risk and trying to get as many auto locksmiths in one place to see what happens.  As our initial discussions wore on the idea just got bigger and bigger all on its own.  In the the end we had to stop.  We had an idea for a trade exhibition of large and small trader suppliers; we wanted only relevant auto training classes for associated members and of course, all the networking opportunities for those that want to join in.
 
We ended up with far more than we thought we could ever do as a group of well meaning working auto locksmiths said a spokesperson from Locksmiths Manchester Company.  We have not used event companies organise it – so be gentle with is if there are a few teething problems on the day.  It has all been done by working auto locksmiths for working locksmiths with a little help from some suppliers.  Although we have put in our time, we have also put some of the ALA’s, MLA’s and ELF’s money in, to try and spark a revolution in how auto locksmiths and dare I say locksmiths associations – can work together.
