Computers are changing so fast now. A great example of the speed of change is my friend bought a cheap laptop the other day and when he was telling me about it I realized it was the same specification as my desktop computer which is just a few years old! That means in a few years time my desktop will be struggling to cope, but then things are advancing so fast that as soon as you take delivery of your computer it is probably obsolete.
Yet how do you go about choosing your next computer? I’m lucky in that I know a bit about computers so I can brose through all the offers and see what they are actually offering, but most people have no clue about what makes a good computer or if something is value for money. In which case I think the best thing to do is buy the latest computer magazine which says on the front it reviews computers.
Yes you can just Google the computer and find loads of reviews that way, but some of those reviews will be by people getting money if you purchase the computer, so you don’t really want to trust that kind of review. These magazines will go through all the latest offers from companies with a fine-toothed comb and pick out the ones they think offer the best value for money, from companies they have had good experiences with before. An added bonus is that the computers which get the best ratings in the magazine will get a surge of sales, so the companies selling them will want to look after those customers because if the magazine gets complaints about customer service or other problems then they might knock the rating down next time.
Then once you have purchased a computer and you are happy with it you just need to think about getting some accessories like a wireless mouse and a big backup drive, or maybe something like a set of bright pink speakers to liven it up.
