My momma adored to use the sewing machine when I was as a toddler. I know how it felt I was a Von Trapp girl, because my mom would make all of us matching Sunday clothes and required us to use them them everywhere. I didn’t understand during those times was why my older bothers detested the experience but I think when I was in their youthful age I would have joined in the argument also. Through it all of us believed those experiences where we might watch my mother slave away for a great number of hours to make our attire, make my sisters Prom outfit, or help us have a relatively fantastic time by designing whacky costumes ended up among the best we ever experienced.
It was only expected that for my Momma’s 70th birthday we all decided to get a meaningful gift that would create some form of remembrance for her. I suggested looking at antique sewing machines and even invest in one which still operates, since my momma lost the sewing machine cabinet inside of a neighborhood fire when I had been Seventeen. My siblings agreed that this was a great investment as well as the perfect birthday gift. I peered around many antique shops and flea markets for vintage sewing machines in working condition but didn’t get lucky right up until I tried going on the internet.
I found many traditional sewing machines through Singer that functioned excellently and all at a reasonable price from a couple of internet auction websites. My mom was just in tears when she found out what we all had given her for her birthday that year. Observing my mama weep tears of joy as she remembered what passion she had for sewing on her 70th birthday is really a special gift for us, her children.
