The Twilight Saga continued its amazing run this past summer with the debut of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The latest movie is soon to hit the premium movie channel airwaves, releasing another surge of Twilight mania.
In “Eclipse,” Seattle is in the midst of an terrible string of murders and Bella is in the middle of a dangerous situation. She is torn between Edward and Jacob, between love and friendship, between the vampire and werewolf. Bella must now choose whether to become a vampire or not. Normally, this would not be a big decision. But the world of Twilight is a whole new world.
You see, the vampires of the Twilight Saga are far removed from Dracula or even Dark Shadows. Except for Riley and Victoria and their ilk, including the newborns, the vampires in Eclipse are the good guys. Well, at least the members of the Cullen clan are the good guys. In fact, they are such good guys that Bella is drawn to them to such an extent that she will consider being a vampire herself.
Eclipse is a much darker film than the previous offerings from the saga. Riley’s control of the newborns is beyond creepy. This is the first time in the sequence of films that we can believe that evil could truly win. Coffins – meh. Wooden stakes — not so much. Manipulation and hate — now that’s scary.
Yes, go back and watch Twilight and New Moon now. Get yourself ready for the onslaught of Eclipse-on- demand. Watch the chilling opening sequence. Stay for Bella’s struggle as she approaches her graduation. Live through the angst of choosing between Jacob and Edward. See the transformation of the newborns. And then watch that last battle sequence. That is awesome. You may need to see it again. Twice. At least.
