Together with the Na Pali, of all of the great things to do on Kauai, going to the beaches is my favorite activity, as it’s for most Kauai visitors. And for good cause! As a result of Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, the shoreline consists principally of soppy, white and golden sand beaches.
Issues you can do and see on the Kauai’s infinite lei of seashores: snorkel, dive, surf, swim, calm down, view romantic sunsets – and two issues you possibly can not often do on the other islands’ seashores – find shells and see endangered Hawaiian monk seals.
All of Kauai seashores, as all through the state of Hawaii, are free and open to the public. It would not make any difference if the seashore is fronting a rustic street, a multimillion greenback dwelling or a luxury resort. Wherever a property blocks access to a seashore, one can find a designated path resulting in the beach inside a couple of toes of that property.
Kauai has too many awesome seashores to checklist right here, but listed here are my three prime picks: one of the most romantic, top-of-the-line for snorkeling and probably the most family-friendly Kauai beaches.
Lumahai Seashore – This isn’t a swimming seashore, but it’s splendidly romantic. Lumahai was the “nurses beach” within the film model of the musical classic, South Pacific. And the hauntingly stunning “Bali Hai” seen within the film is performed by the majestic Mt. Makana of the Na Pali State Park viewed from this North Shore beach. The golden beach and rocky ocean here are beautiful. It is high-quality to sunbathe and wade in the shallows, but do not swim. The currents are as treacherous because the beach is lovely.
Anini Beach Park – This can be a very pretty, long stretch of white sand with a coral reef protected lagoon good for snorkeling. Despite the fact that Anini is on Kauai’s North Shore, the water is sort of at all times calm and clear here, and it is a great spot for beginning snorkelers who want to view colorful coral and lots of tropical fish.
Poipu Beach – The crescent shaped beach that fronts the Sheraton and the Kiahuna Resort is very in style with families and a Dr. Seashore pick. I spent lots of time here with my eldest son when he was young. The reef protected surf is small and delicate, making it fun for kids (and for these learning to surf). As a result of Poipu is on the island’s South Shore, it’s perpetually sunny too, and the sunsets reflecting on the golden sands are magical!
