COld sores are incredibly annoying and irritating! It’s a skin condition that many people suffer from and one that has caused skin care companies to produce hundreds of different treatments and look for a cold sore cure. However, as many people have found out, most of the available treatments fail to work. Cold sores can be hard to eliminate and many people go their entire lives dealing with this problem.

If you suffer from cold sores there are some simple steps that you can take to minimize the problem and help prevent any outbreaks. Not only can you take some steps to prevent any flareups, but you can also use a few tricks to lessen the length you have a cold sore when they do appear. It is possible to stop cold sores when you make a few simple changes.

First, if you live in an area that gets a lot of sun, wear a lip balm or chapstick with protection against UV rays. Although we all love the sun, it can be your enemy and cause cold sore outbreaks. When you use a balm with SPF guards, you will block the suns rays from being able to create new cold sores from sprouting up.

Next, try to wash your hands regularly. This is simply advice, but you would be shocked by how many people completely ignore his rule! Your hands come in contact with many types of bacteria and dirt throughout the day. When you touch your skin, it’s easy to transfer this bacteria to your face, lips or other body parts. Certain bacteria have been found to lead to cold sores – by washing your hands or applying an antibacterial gel every few hours, you will cut down on the number of outbreaks you get each year.

Finally, take care of yourself! Make sure you get enough rest and that you are living a healthy lifestyle. The more stress you put on your body, the harder it is for your body to fight off viruses (which is what cold sores are). Eat well, hit they gym and try to eliminate the stresses in your life. Although this might seem like an obvious tip, it is extremely important in preventing cold sores. This can make all the difference.
